The authorities are not taking any chances tomorrow (9th July 2011) and will cordon off all major roads into the city centre. Beginning midnight today (8th July 2011), parts of Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Chulan and routes leading to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Dataran Merdeka and Istana Negara will be out of bounds to all vehicles.
The closure will last until 10pm.
Police said yesterday that they had obtained a court order, barring 91 key members of the three rallying groups - Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0), Malay rights group Perkasa and Umno Youth - from entering the city centre.
The ban takes effect from 8am to 6pm tomorrow.
The Land Public Transport Commission, in a statement, said the closures involved all major roads leading into the city centre.
However, motorists will be allowed on the Middle Ring Road 1 which includes Lebuhraya Mahameru and parts of Lingkaran Syed Putra and Jalan Tun Razak.
Earlier, city deputy police chief Datuk Amar Singh said among the 91 people barred from the city centre from 8am to 6pm tomorrow were Bersih chairman Datuk S. Ambiga, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and several of their key supporters.
"Police will serve the notices personally on the 91," he said.
Amar said those who disobeyed the court order would be arrested and charged.
He said, so far, police had not received any permit application from any group to hold assemblies.
Amar advised the public to stay away from the city centre tomorrow as bus services would also be affected.
Public buses plying the city routes will be re-routed and their last stops have been temporarily relocated to the following stations:
- Buses from Jalan Semarak, Jalan Setapak/Genting Kelang, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Duta will make their last stop at the Titiwangsa monorail/LRT station;
- Buses from Jalan Ampang at Datuk Keramat LRT station;
- Buses from Jalan Kampung Pandan and Jalan Cheras will stop at the Maluri LRT station;
- Buses from the Federal Highway entering through Jalan Bangsar, Jalan Travers and Jalan Tun Sambanthan, and from Jalan Damansara, at the KL Sentral monorail station;
Operations at the Puduraya and Pekeliling terminals will be shifted to the Hentian Duta bus terminal.
All express buses out of Hentian Putra and those plying the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban route from Puduraya will be relocated to the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Bandar Tasik Selatan.
